Phillipe
Simon :: Drums (b. Boston, MA) Phillipe
has spent the past twenty years specializing in raggae music. He has
performed
with
Boston
based bands such as Afrikan
Roots (winner of the Reggae Category, 1987 Boston Music Awards), The
Danny Tucker Band, The Mighty Charge and The I-Vibes. Phillipe moved
to New York
City in 1994 and later joined The Motives, a hard hitting reggae band
with a distinct NYC edge. In 2000, he moved his activities to the other
side
of the East River, found a group of musicians in Bedford - Stuyvesant
and Launched the People's Band.
As The Charlemont Reggae Festival welcomed
Phillipe into the reggae music world in 1985, it extended its hand
once again in 2001. Since moving to Western Massachusetts Phillipe has
performed with Abdul Baki and The New Roots, Mentos and The New Horizon
Band, Gilly's
Reggae
Vision Band and currently performs with The Equalites as well as The
Roots All-Stars. Phillipe also provides private instruction to drummers
in the Pioneer Valley and is available for new students.
